The creation of any new archives in Thunar (via squeeze) will overflow the memory and processor still goes to 100%. The whole thread must eventually kill. Archive creates a fine, but is unable to squeeze itself close.
I can't uploaded video with bug situation, sorry. I uploaded to free rapidshare (valid for 1 month - http://uloz.to/489023/squeeze_bug.ogv - please see.

Which version do you use?
(In reply to comment #3) > Which version do you use? > I use version 0.2.3 and Thunar 0.9.0.
I compiling SVN build of exo, thunar and squeeze. Overflow memory is no longer, but can not continue to create any archive. The problem is probably in thunar.
Created attachment 1693 squeeze 0.2.3 in thunar 0.9.1 svn I can create an archive, shows the selection tar.gz
Created attachment 1694 squeeze 0.2.90 in thunar 0.9.1 svn I can not create an archive, does not show the selection tar.gz
Correct, Squeeze is currently stalled... (unfortunately) When xfce 4.6 is out, i'll pick up further development on it.
Ok, I just had a report from a Debian user hitting this bug. It seems to be only reproducible on amd64. I made a short valgrind log but can't remember the correct set of options.
Created attachment 1914 tiny valgrind log
Created attachment 1915 more detailed valgrind log
Hmhm, Stephan, now that 4.6 is out, is there some news on this? (I don't think you had time to work on squeeze those days, but…)
And now, what is the status on this? :)
Confirmed in FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE with amd64. When trying to create a simple tiny tar.gz file with Squeeze hangs for a while, memory usage and CPU go crazy and even if the file is finally created, it’s empty.
> Confirmed in FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE with amd64. It is related here to the type of archive being created (only ZIP works): - BZIP: hangs (finally creates empty file, extract gives error 512). - GZIP: hangs (finally creates empty file, extract gives error 256). - Z: hangs (finally creates empty file, extract button doesn’t work). - TAR/BZIP: hangs (finally creates empty file, extract does not find the binary). - TAR/GZIP: hangs (finally creates empty file, extract does not find the binary). - TAR/Z: hangs (finally creates empty file, extract does not find the binary). – TAR: create does not find the binary. - ZIP (zip-3.0): works (create/extract). Hope it helps!
(In reply to comment #15) > > Confirmed in FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE with amd64. > > It is related here to the type of archive being created (only ZIP works): Sorry for the multiple messages, that’s the last one but I’ve just seen the full title of the bug: it is not related to Thunar, the same behaviour is to be seen by using Squeeze independently.
squeeze is not maintained anymore, closing.
